I'm sure weewilly really wants someone lecturing him on top of everything else 🙄 He could have enough slurry storage for 7 months and still be full at this stage.

It happened me once, I realised half way through the 1st bottle and while taking it out she died. That was not a good day.

It has been the most mentally challenging 12 months of farming I have endured. The 9to5 looks tempting at the moment bit hopefully the sun will come soon and we'll fall back in love with farming.

We had a big holstein cow who went 2 years between calving (obviously should have been culled but that's another story) so a rep was in the yard and saw her and I told him she was just after calving after 2 year break and he goes "try fish oil, (or something along those lines) it's expensive but...

We calf in end of October to 1st few days of December and end of January to mid April. So we holiday in September and early January. Have to get some one to milk but at least its covering their wage while you're gone.

I would go split calving blocks(September/October and February to April)for 2 reasons, 1,: there's a huge difference in work and organisation in two blocks versus AYR so you might end up being happy with that. And 2, if you're not happy with that push your autumn to November in year 2 and to...

I'd a heifer bulling this morning at 6am, was planning on serving at 6pm this evening but ai man couldn't call. She was still standing heat at that stage but it was going off her. So now I'll AI at 9am tomorrow. Would you go sexed or conventional?
