    Enhanced over wintered stubble

Theres not a lot but better than losing money with rape - ease cash flow and get back to wheat. I see no real other option especially on grade 3 soils where grass weeds are getting hold.

    Enhanced over wintered stubble

So if you rent your land and wheat is the driver other than diversified enterprises what do you do with the land in your opinion knowing that OSR is at best a bad gamble and barley doesn’t produce 9 out of 10 years a margin better than fallow? To boot the dreaded grass weeds as well? Im all...

    Enhanced over wintered stubble

So if it’s left as stubble and then sprayed in mid May for bg do you all think that would work as an entry for wheat as a simple system? I thinking ows -wheat Easy to budget and guaranteed rather than OSR and barley Hopefully takes pressure off ageing machinery and fluctuations in inputs

    Enhanced over wintered stubble

Afternoon, has anyone used this option in css for an alternative to OSR or winter barley? The payment is reasonable and takes away the volatility of the 2 crops mentioned. Any thoughts pros and cons? thanks

    Bps and corn prices

I understand reading this that farmers think rents may drop? But what is the plans immediately and short and long term? personally I’m thinking stewardship in the immediate and follow the schemes as they /if appear long term FBT land will be judged accordingly and given back I’m afraid and...

    Bps and corn prices

They will have to if nothing replaces bps. I’m sure you know your figures but there’s nothing at the job at all if you factor reinvestment. You can’t use the same machinery for ever.

    Bps and corn prices

Morning, It’s a constant thought and concern for me and must be for most others. We all start to lose SFP this year which will have a massive impact on a tenanted arable unit such as ours. yes we are diversified business but to unsustainably ‘prop’ a failing business model of arable...
