They look like comet pump valves. Springs have always been weak in them. I change mine every year, easy to do. We had that happen when we had one years ago.

Spoke to a guy doing roadworks near us. He said that a high percentage of the plannings legally had to go for recycling meaning the small amount remaining was in demand therefore worth good money.

It may have been £300+ but there were no buyers when it was that high. I know because I tried to sell some.
