Lambing outdoors- catching ewe and lambs

Did you do any tests on the ones that didn't conceive ? Could it be a compylobactor issue with nieve stock ?

    Feeding ewe rolls to lambs?

As above lost two or three hogs with blocked urethras ( not my proudest moment) after feeding ewe pellets. From memory after doing the research, it's the high levels of phosphate in ewe feed which calcifies and causes the problem in male sheep.

Most would have a dog anyway, sheep or not. So arguably little extra cost.

I'm sure you're system works well, but what about rented land etc where the fences can't altered or a pen made big enough that the first ones in don't loose interest in the treats and turn back even before the last ones get there.

Agreed ,and would do a broader range of parasites. Planning on doing ewes twice with Dysect once they are sheared and have got a new cover of wool.

Is BPS actually good value for money?

I think that comment might have been tongue in cheek unless with global warming, Ayrshires climate has become like California's 😗

Are your Calf Rearing Vet & Medicine costs too high? One simple solution we found -

Best thing I have done for calf rearing is build " dens " in the bigger yard out of pallets, tin etc for when the weather gets cold. It's a coat warmer inside them and the calves can go in and out as they choose. Calves have done much better since I've started doing this.

    Farmers Guardian

Gave up the FG and FW a few years back. IMO all the articles are all written by people with a vested interest in something. A few lines in you can guess who's behind them.
