Landlord is selling up, any advice on possible investors to buy them out?

It's lining up with the end of my current 10year LDT unfortunately, current owners have been considering it for years but Brexit has pushed them over the edge

If I could buy it I wouldn't be consulting the forum, also I'm not the castle type, more a Robinhood character. I'm trying to steer it so I don't get the boot when a new owner arrives and decides they've watched this farming life and they're going to give it a go themselves!

They'll be putting it on the market later this summer, Scottish Highlands, 17th century castle with walled garden, wooded driveway and lodge house. Farm has two houses and sufficient buildings and infrastructure to run 120 suckers, there's 350ac of good ground that's in rotation between grass...

Where to send cull ewes & odds'n'sods around Scotland and Northern England.

It's every 4th sale rather than 25% from each sale, it's to do with where we're ending up in the catalogue more than anything. Yes we've had some contact with them the last few days, just looking at transport options now. ^All sound advice, would normally try and sell on the rising market...

Where to send cull ewes & odds'n'sods around Scotland and Northern England.

Hi aangus, we've tried sending them south, north and east the past few years, always seems to be the same buyers we're running into. 75% of the time it's a reasonable market price but the other 25% is pitiful, with running on tighter and tighter margins a few of us are looking to kill direct if...

Where to send cull ewes & odds'n'sods around Scotland and Northern England.

Hello folks, thanks for the comments, sorry I was busy elsewhere. I've read through them all and picked up on a few key points which I've answered below to give supporting detail to the OP and help steer the conversation. We're in quite a remote area with a limited number of livestock markets...

Yes that's been one of the limiting factors, It would need to be a private load as the main haulage co's are aligned or affiliated with established buyers or markets.

No I think everybody seems to go with Longtown or Lockerby these days. It all seems to have turned into a monopoly the last 20years with all the buyers ultimately p##sing into the same pot.

Where to send cull ewes & odds'n'sods around Scotland and Northern England.

West coast lamb rep usually take the majority of our cull stock at the moment so they wouldn't be an option. Dawn Carnaby will be worth some research, thanks for the advice.

Not an option we'd like to progress really, would need some sort of guarantee which I would doubt any board would support.

How to dock an older lambs tail

Spoke with my preferred vet from the local surgery, she said it’s a procedure they wouldn’t be willing to carry out. Was also mentioned how times had changed and they’re stretched on resource with folk self isolating due to high risk family members. Very much what I expected, it would have cost...
