Had 9 acres of spring oat stubble full of self seeded after last year's harvest so left them over winter. Glyphosate followed by claydon drilled spring beans.
Kept the ground covered and added some organic matter when drilling.
6m claydon comes in to do our spring beans not to bad for stones as pick them up when I see them but did see a lump of concrete split in 2 by the claydon once.
Can't put stuff in through a bit of ply and wouldn't make much difference as the are no windows in the bottoms of the doors either. Can't replace those as you need to reach in to open the door as the buttons have dropped off.
Still use an old Massey drill on iron wheels used to pull with a 780 but she needs a rebuild now at over 13000 hours. Use a 1290 now for the drilling and a 1210 for the ploughing. Looking at demoing a simtech in the spring our spring beans currently go in with a 6m claydon on a case steiger...
Saw the hands free ha drill at lamma last year on the Simtech stand 30hp per m very tempted by a 2.4m but don't think my old David Brown could lift it.
Belt driven as originally designed the mill would have been safer as if you were to get caught up the belt would run off not keep going wrapping you up in it. The flat belt becomes the weak link moving the power driven pulley well away from the working area.
