Welsh Sustainable Farming Scheme AND Protests

To be fair @steveR isn't it a more right wing position not to redistribute wealth as benefits? It's a valid point, why subsidise busted business models unless there's some public good coming from it? I don't agree with a lot of what the Welsh Gov are trying to implement, and believe that they...

    Blood test for food allergies

NHS Wales: we were restricted to five or seven elements to test. There were at least two egg options, probably three (yolk/white/combined) iirc. Because there were several severe allergens at play, our consultant got us to perform an external touch skin test on a sensitive area that could be...

Imported frozen food 'of animal origin' from UK recalled from Iceland

Sorry, I thought you were joking, it sounded like a parody of the Daily Mail. My mistake. The 'government' haven't secured our borders for various reasons, which is quite ironic itself really. I believe that pretty much anything SPS related that's imported to the UK from a third country via the...

    Organic farming

Is that seed and hay, or seed hay? To be frank, we have plenty of meadow, I just need to make a bailing press soon. We have goats, ducks, and chickens at the moment, and it's how much we focus on duck meat Vs broilers. With the price of feed (at least buying 20/25kg sacks of organic growers) the...

    Organic farming

What's the best way to find small quantities of local organic grain (for livestock), manure etc please? This land was certified organic, but whilst we maintain the practices, it's not worth paying for whilst we're not currently trading. St. Clears.

    Free Trees for Wales

Well yeah, but replacing plastics with wood keeps carbon in the ground and sequesters carbon temporarily.

    Free Trees for Wales

Well, one could use a part of it to make a well made table that doesn't have a planned obsolescence, or a spoon, or a dashboard, box, basket etc.... Replacing the use of plastic AND sequestering for a longer time, just may help.

    Polytunnel Planning Permission

Thanks. Yes, the land is part of what's been horticulture for yonks, but hasn't been planted, although the previous owners had tarped part of the area out in preparation for expansion. The 1/² acre horti's distinctly fenced from our neighbouring meadow, so no change of use pp required...
