Sorry my fault for wording it badly, I was meaning in the USA where you have to have ID to register to vote yet it is suddenly seen by some as a problem to show the ID when it actually comes to voting.

Maybe you can enlighten us as to why showing ID at the time of polling is a bit deal ? I can clearly see the benefit showing ID but I can't see any downsides to it, if anything there should be more restrictions placed on postal/absent voting as that is wide open to abuse.
