That is what we thought between myself and the vet but he wasn't 100% sure and was going to ask the lab etc on Monday!
Don't really wish to be bringing that in to the herd as we are accredited and never had a problem

We recently bought in 6 Heifers from England
We had them in quarantine for 6 weeks and had the vet test them for Johnes and BVD!
There was 1 come back positive for Johnes so she is going back to the sender!
They all came...

It all depends on your farm, setup and how your calving!
Here there is one man doing all the calving of 180 cows etc, tagging and putting cattle outside and tending to them as well as looking after ewes and lambs!
We don't keep anything if it has required a C-Section as most...
We are going to bull a batch of our heifers this year at 14/15 Months instead of our usual 26/27 Months!
Last year a few of our 14 month old Heifers got in with the bull and we left them to calve to see how it went, ended up having 0 difficulties from them, all calved happily and are all good...

Mostly bullocks but Heifers as well..
Had a small bullock born Saturday night, Iodined it at 11pm then when back at the shed at 6 it got dine again and around lunch time gave it another squirt! Only a small navel also, yet by Sunday night you coukd feel it starting to go...
Was told by neighbour to start using Terramycinspray first let it set for dry then dip in iodine or spray with iodine!

Don't know why but this year we are getting over probably 30% of our calves get Navel Ill.
We bed every second day via a bedder like we have done for years, no scrolling on straw thanks to the arable side so they never get mucky mucky!
Everything is iodinedat least 2 times sometimes 3 times...
What little ways does everyone use when deciding if they think a calve will come if use the calving jack or if needs C-Sectioned??
Biggest problems we are having this year is calves with average sized head and shoulders yet the hips and arses are too extreme and having problems with hip locking...
