    Bbc4 1963 big freeze.

2013 hit us hard here in NI. 22 March it landed right in the middle of lambing. Hit higher ground 4ft lying snow + 60mph winds on the second night left drifts up to 20ft. Department collected 44000 dead stock after it. Councils and transport agencies were beat after 3 hrs if it hadn't been for...

    what angle to cut at

As I said 90 +/- 15 soooooo 105 or 75 depending on which one you measure obtuse or acute.

    Slurry tanker dribble bar

Microsoft Word - Fertilising Grass Silage+DW+SL (teagasc.ie) The secret is out. Here is a report by Teagasc (pronounced chuggus). Shows that there is indeed a sweet spot for slurry consistency and available nutrients is directly linked to Dry Matter ie. halve the dry matter halve the nutrients...

    Slurry tanker dribble bar

Are you telling ? Is it a secret ?

    Slurry tanker dribble bar

Calm down , it's only slurry. I didn't realise cowabunga has an opinion on it, then it must be true. So if you and cowabunga can't manage it, then it's an impossibility, OK, I see. One question though, if it's an impossibility, how come tankers all have a double trap and how come the second one...

Is there a figure for an optimum DM for slurry for nutrient uptake?

    Slurry tanker dribble bar

This 75% full thing and at most 90%, there must be a problem in your system. Air leaks at unused doors or holes in pipes will cause foaming which will make your tanker 'trip' too early. Or if you are shutting the door too quick after the fill note your tanker wont be full as it is actually still...

    Slurry tanker dribble bar

@Speedstar , do you charge by the hour or m3?

    Slurry tanker dribble bar

How? Surely it has less nutrients per m3 the more water you add?

    Slurry tanker dribble bar

Yes, very true, but the attitude of 'the thinner the better' doesn't stack up. There is enough of the bloody stuff to cart without diluting it.

    Slurry tanker dribble bar

True, but what about time and cost of hauling water in and extra loads out? There is a sweet spot for slurry consistency after that your just hauling water.

    Ooooooohhhhhh....

Or 'in and out' more [emoji23]

    Slurry tanker dribble bar

Confused, surely adding extra water dilutes slurry? Once slurry is to a thickness that it is easy worked with machinery, how would water benefit? Living in an area with around 1000mm of rainfall per year I have never seen the need to irrigate.
