Looks like herbicide damage. Either residual in previous crop or you sprayed them. I scorched mine with Butisan. I think there was a bit of glyphosate in the hosing that increased the damage. Mine looks like that.

I do it every year with dairy beef heifers and get on great with them. Definitely about 100 - 80 kg heavier than the couple of ones I put into the shed.
