    Cabless electric tractor

Hybrid is only of use when you would use engine braking in a car, so unless you are using your tractor just for road haulage, there is not much use for it. You just end up carrying around a heavy and bulky diesel engine and fuel supply, plus a heavy bulky battery and a compact motor. Worst of...

    Cabless electric tractor

It would be an interesting challenge to get it to the fields up our lanes! Then you need high power sockets in every field. How about dodgem style (acknowledging that dodgems used the floor as the return wire, more difficult in a field.

    Cabless electric tractor

That depends on everyone having the same battery, a standard interface for the BMS (battery management system), same cooling system connectors. It might be easier with trucks to use the same physical dimensions, but cars will always try to fit as much capacity into the available space within a...

    Krone topping skids

Couple of inches. On our flinty soil we always run topping skids otherwise we wear a mower bed out in less than a year.

Bank governor in 'apocalyptic' warning over rising food prices

Soon pays off the cost of a nice stainless steel thermos flask. A pack of ground coffee that lasts us a week costs less than a paper cup of stuff out.

    Farming without bagged Fertiliser

Not sure whether to put the recirc pipe into the top or bottom of the tank yet. What is puzzling me at the moment is the best way to meter the spray. I may end up making a peristaltic type metering mechanism driven off the land wheel, but in the meantime I am looking for better ideas.

    Farming without bagged Fertiliser

I reckon one or more of these would do the job https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362660618939?hash=item547041e2bb:g:5YwAAOSw9KZiTicg Anyway that is what I have ordered to make a machine. Got a tank from Direct tanks https://www.directwatertanks.co.uk/275-litres-water-tank-oval Wheels and hubs from...

Biogas plant from Omni Heat and Power

The installation I am looking at is purely slurry. Our own digester was originally put in by Greenfinch from Ludlow. Most of their staff went to Marches Biogas when they were bought out by Biogen. I then modified it so it worked reliably on a mixture of strawy slurry, maize silage (the cows have...

Biogas plant from Omni Heat and Power

I am merely telling what I found out, and hope that others might be able to provide more and better information. My next move is to try to patch up relations between the farmer and Omni, as this might be the best way forwards. I still have a few issues with the plant design, particularly the...

Biogas plant from Omni Heat and Power

The farm I am looking at has pipes in for gas mixing, which will use far less power. He did a manual system with an old milking vacuum pump, but it would not be too difficult to put in a proper ATEX gas compressor (e.g. Utile Engineering LGB32) and valving to automate it. Power demand of...

Biogas plant from Omni Heat and Power

Thanks for the reply. I do not know the back history of the site, but am trying to help out someone with a major investment that is not working. Perhaps he fell out with Omni over something, but I am not sure. I think if we can sort the CHP then it should work, but has been designed with a very...

Biogas plant from Omni Heat and Power

I spoke to Jason who was quite helpful and sent me the program. It is rather spaghetti code though.
