Don’t buy anything carbon steel, only buy HSS taps, carbon steel are only any good for a one off never to be used again job but even then I wouldn’t take the chance as they’re so brittle.
I have used these for years, cutting many hundreds of threads, good quality at a reasonable price:

The easiest way to replicate those would be to get the pilot bore sprockets that you need and find an engineering firm with a wire EDM machine to cut the internal hex.
Your local bearing supplier may know ware to get it done as they would regularly get pulleys bored and keyed for customers.
Get them to pay as though they are going to leave without reinstating the land and anything they do is a bonus.
Also if you want or need a bigger electric supply or 3 phase bargain this in too.
If it’s the splines worn there’s probably not a lot can be done, but if it’s worn ware the bushes sit there’s possibly a couple of options.
like metal spraying to build the shaft back up or turning the worn sections out and either haveing custom bushes made or if your lucky an off the shelf...
Was it just me or did tying things on pickups not used to be a thing, I remember on many occasions as a young boy being sat on the back of the old Sherpa pickup and told to hold onto whatever it was being transported?
