Suckler herd health plan advice needed

I currently graze a few sucklers on a SSSI site only giving additional mineral blocks such as high magnesium etc. Bring cows in to calf feeding adlib hay and straw along with pre Calver mineral licks and salt blocks. We give a general pour on for worms etc before turning out. Am I on the right...

    Angus bull wanted Doncaster

Hi all, We have several Hereford cross Fresian heifers looking to bull along with our old redpoll cows. I'm looking for an Aberdeen Angus young bull locally if anyone can help? We have been offered a blonde bull but I'm concerned about potential calving problems. Any thoughts?

    Hereford x Holstein

Just bought some Hereford x Holstein heifer calves. I was hoping to keep them for sucklers? Has anyone any experience of the cross and are they worth it? What do you recommend putting over them? Many thanks. Shane.

    Lambing outside & foxes

No doubt you guys get plagued by lads looking for permission to work their terriers. But if you need foxes sorting I like nothing better than in my spare time working my dogs. Did I say spare time lol. Anyway, give me a shout wherever you are and I'll come over.

Excellent access and good corals have been built. Good shelter belts with thick hedges and an old shed on site.

    suckler herd on conservation ground

Not got any pictures yet but the biggest parcel is arable land bought back from local farmers and reseeded to be used as a buffer for the moor. Plenty of the old type drinking ponds have been dug out. We can't spray and the land has only been roughly topped over the last 3 years.

    suckler herd on conservation ground

Thanks JP1 and Old Tip, what do you think would be the best sire, Blonde or Bazadaise? Thankfully don't have to rely on this venture for my living but it does need to at least pay for itself. Thanks for any advice gents.

Thank you guys, I really appreciate your responses. I'll try to answer the points raised. I live near the land run by Natural England, Thorne moors North of Doncaster. Currently I have a small (10) herd of pedigree redpoll hence the question regarding suitability for continental crossing. Was...

    suckler herd on conservation ground

I have been offered 100 acres of rough grazing on a conservation site. Would it be viable to start a suckler herd of Red Poll cattle and cross them with a continental bull? I don't have to pay for the land and I intend to out winter them. There are a few good shelters. I have a flock of 50 texel...
