I'd try to make the hole bigger, slice an old flail bushing to the width of the mounting lug and weld that into position taking care that everything lines up correctly
The more the errors the simpler the problem probably is especially if the spacing on the ground is fairly right.
Have you checked all your count sensors are working?
I find them a fairly simple machine to operate and they don't give much hassle

Is there by any chance a damp patch under the steering column? It sounds like your gas strut is on its way out, dealer price is eye watering but there is some aftermarket options
That's correct only the lwb have range/power command similar to the Puma's, looking at pictures a lot of them will have range/power command written on the roof. They lwb models all have ribbed diesel tanks as per the picture and the indicators and sidelights are on a stalk
whereas the swb models...
There's 5 variants of the t6050
Delta, Plus and Elite are all equivalents of the the maxxum range
Delta is the low roof version similar to the X line,
Plus is the normal cab, mechanical injection, usually 16/17x16 gearbox
Elite has the common rail and I think electric spools although they might...
The opposite was happening to me, instead of selecting 9 it was going into 13. The part numbers you are looking for are 82108880 and 82018879, I'm not sure which one is which switch is which but your dealer will tell you and you might be as well off replacing both, it's a simple job.
There's a pair of sensors that detect the position of the hi/lo selector rail, one of these is playing up, they're located in the side of gearbox somewhere back from the battery
Check the condition of the comb guides underneath the front pulleys, i think the can cause problems with belts snapping. I wouldn't be bothered replacing the other belts on it that aren't snapped unless they were only being held together by threads
