Tolracol has a long meat withdrawal, 42 days for sheep, but has persistent action and better product in my opinion. Downside is the withdrawal.
Vecoxan needs 2 doses 3 weeks apart as said above. Zero meat withdrawal on it too.
Yes did mine a fortnight ago with their first heptavac and white drench. They were 3-5 weeks old. They’d been out for 2 weeks in a very dirty field, and had the highest count we’d ever seen. So high you couldn’t count the oocysts 😫. Drenched with tolracol, and finally managed to put them in a...
Daily antibiotics are better than long acting I found. Speak to your vet about which antibiotic as it depends on which bacteria is causing it - some can react badly with certain antibiotics and cause the ewe to go toxic. Take the lambs off her, and cull once out of withdrawal. The aim of the...
We’re keeping ours in this year too. Previous years we turn them out looking great then they melt away with cocci worms etc. So giving it a go keeping in till fat. Do people carry on feeding just straw and pellets or move onto hay and pellets after a certain age ?
I normally use long acting Betamox, although this year did use the daily Betamox as it was in the cupboard, but that’s for indoor lambing ewes. I think only a couple had a course of ab in the end. There were a few that just had pain relief and oxytocin which worked quite well, in my quest to...
13.5% here. That equates to 1 single aborting, 2 stillborn lambs, 1 deformed lamb, 2 lambs sat/stood on by their useless mothers, 1 lamb died after 24 hours as it was too weak.
53 lambs scanned, 46 lambs alive and kicking which I’m happy enough with given a fortnight ago I said it was the worst...
Think we’ve turned a corner now here. Had 3 super sets of twins and a single since the squashed lamb, and shearlings have bucked their ideas up too for the time being! 😃 only 4 left to lamb now.
Don’t know what the hell has gone wrong with my shearlings this year, a group of 15 all homebred, they’re either absolutely fantastic mothers or totally shocking. 1 aborted and is wild as hell, 1 has absorbed her lambs since scanning, 1 stood on one of her twins, 1 I wet adopted a lamb onto-...
I’ve had a sick ewe this week, downer cow, old tractor ran out of diesel in the rain and then my last due to lamb became the first to lamb, obviously that didn’t end well 😂 🤦🏻♀️
