Was your post that made me think of her and then she calved. Agree with you. Likes of quentin made solid cows that have just gone on and on.
Langley Evolution daughter dropped her 10th this morning, doesn't break any yield records, 4.7 BF 3.6 P average, held 1st time every year, proper no hassle cow.
Can't add much to what's been said. Entering 5th season with one here. Based purchase on paying for machine over 2 years with 40% saving per annum, that was when fert prices started with a 2. We managed 60% saving by end of second year.
As mentioned it is a bit slower than conventional but can...
That is the sort of thing I've been thinking about, worried about the temperature initially but probably unnecessarily as fed at ambient temp post 4 days anyway.

Has management been any different prior to 10 years ago to the last 10 years?
What is soil health...
My two penn'orth. It is not the breed per se but the selection criteria applied to it. Reason NZ breeding has done well on British seasonal grass based farms is because of decades of selection in NZ of animals that perform on seasonal grass based farms. Similar Ireland have seen great strides...
Solos are growing into great cows. I sold a pile of bulling heifers spring 22 as just had too many, in hindsight put to much weighting on genomics in my selection as sold a lot of solos.
