A vintage year for foot scald in sheep??

Scald here was not a prob during the drought, but has been quite bad since, perhaps because we try to keep our swards long, for quicker regrowth. Iodine and linco are effective - don't like formalin:(:cautious:. We're not currently using Footvax, but wonder if it would help reduce scald?

    Livestock haulage certificate

No, but only had it a couple of months - trading standards suggested I should do it, so you can be got at that way too. And I can transport cattle too - but I've never handled a cow in my life!! There is an interesting get out for small nos of sheep - no cert required if you're only...

    Livestock haulage certificate

There are some tricky Q's eg how far can you transport animals if you don't have a cert? How long can they be kept in the vehicle? What ramp angle for sheep - many older trailers are apparently illegal as ramps are too steep - just tell them you put a brick under the tailgate - what a load of...

    Red meat and climate change....

That's interesting! Is there any talk of 'vegan vegetables' in USA, ie grown with no animal manure? Is sewage sludge an alternative? Or is the vegan-thing less vocal stateside?

    Red meat and climate change....

According to Oxford University, there is evidence that the earth cooled after the buffalo kill-off 150 yrs ago. But this doesn't necessarily mean the two are related. We need more research on events such as this.

    Red meat and climate change....

Is any one growing 'beans, pulses, seeds and nuts' here? How are we to maintain soil quality without animal manure?

    Red meat and climate change....

That's a nice way of looking at it. The problem is the methane: more cows = more methane What we need is more research looking at the methane vs C-sequester balance. I believe horses produce a fraction of the methane of cows or sheep, but they're not great milkers:(.

Seed Cleaning, and my first go with a drone thingy !

Has anyone considered the Mavic Air? It's said to be good value, but has no optical zoom (only digital zoom like the Pro). https://myfirstdrone.com/blog/dji-mavic-air-vs-mavic-pro

Where is that? Nice vids - are those auto-tracking modes, or were you manually steering the drone? Brave flying over water!

Seed Cleaning, and my first go with a drone thingy !

Which Mavic did you get? Does it have a zoom? If so how useful is it, as opposed to just flying closer to the target?

Seed Cleaning, and my first go with a drone thingy !

I'm wondering about the zoom, and thinking it might be good for looking behind trees etc for sheep, whilst keeping line of sight with the drone? How robust is the video link working through trees / scrub? I image any rocky outcrops will stop the link completely?

    Blind lambs

Good to wipe their heads with Steri7 or Backakill to prevent spreading to other sheep via bins etc.
