    All this is really interesting. The daughter is a former copper. I had written the first draft of the first book when I learned that women police weren't actually allowed to drive cars in those days - so I had to go back and completely re-write it.

    Well... the farm is already referenced in the first book so it's not possible to change, unfortunately. And I'm pretty sure that in the part of Devon where this is set, dairy was pretty much the only game in town. That said, the trick is not to put in loads of detail - but to just get the detail...
