I sorted a McHale 991ber (no L - not sure of the difference?) for a customer/mate a couple of years ago.
McHale advised they don't make these control units any more, but might be able to get them repaired.
As you don't have a unit, you might be best contacting RDS MME Ltd in Dorset, who...

IIRC that long spring supports the cutterbar when it is in the operating position and the hydraulics are raised (eg at the headland etc).
The breakaway spring is the smaller vertical one just behind the RH linkage pin.
I had a 1968 135 that was still original when I bought it, it didn't have the aluminium grab handles, but it did have the aluminium headlight housings....
Looking to fit a power steering kit on my 240 - anyone got any advice on the different types available? Seems like a minefield, hearing that some don't fit well. Have been looking at the Agriline and Sparex kits.......:scratchhead:
