I am seeking a position/role as assistant stockman/general estate worker, undertaking aspects of sheep/lambing, beef/suckler/calving/rearing husbandry, aspects of wild game husbandry, pest control, grounds & building maintenance.
I have my own young collie, qualified lambing shepherd certificate, quadbike certificate, stalking/keepering related certificates, qualified gardener/grounds and building maintenance certificates, qualified all round butcher and happy to undertake any other adhoc work.

A cottage/house would be appreciated i would be happy to rent longterm and would consider becoming self-employed.

Hello! I’m a 2nd year vet student at the University of Liverpool. I am hoping to find a pig placement for this summer.
Although I haven’t a lot of pig experience, I am enthusiastic and more than keen to get stuck in and learn.
I am free various weeks between June- end of August. I’m based in the north east of England but have transport so can commute within an hour or if not would ideally be looking for somewhere with accommodation.

Early moves to target wild oats

Growers and agronomists now face the dilemma of an early application to remove competition from emerged wild oats, or holding off to allow more weeds to germinate.

Syngenta grassweeds technical manager, Georgina Wood, urges Axial Pro treatment as soon as conditions allow, once weeds are actively growing.

“That offers the chance to control wild oats more cost effectively at lower rates, whilst there is still the flexibility to tailor application rates up to 0.82 l/ha for larger or over wintered weeds and difficult situations.

“The variability of crops and situations this season means decisions for appropriate Axial Pro rates and application techniques will need to be made on a field-by-field basis,” she advised.

NFU Cymru set to launch legal challenge over ‘damaging’ NVZ regulations

NFU Cymru is to launch a legal challenge against the Welsh government’s new rules to control agricultural pollution, having previously raised concerns about the lawfulness of the decision.

The union said that the new Nitrate Vulnerable Zone (NVZ) designation, which came into force across Wales on April 1, poses a “significant threat to the economic viability of Welsh farming, the overall impact of which cannot be underestimated”.

Hi, I'm 23, from North Norfolk, looking for some Arable / mixed work over spring and into summer.. I'm expericebd using modern John deere, fendt, jcb, case, new Holland and other tractors. I work hard and am prepared to put in hours where required. I'm looking for something either self employed or on the books work. I have experience doing cultivation work, rolling, topping, carting, some ploughing with a 5 furrow lemken. I have a teleporter ticket, full clean driving licence as well. I'm based in the nr11 area so would be willing to drive up to around 30/35 minutes from my area.

Modern beef and arable farm in North Staffordshire seeking full time member of staff.
Daily responsibilities will include feeding and bedding finishing and store cattle with tmr feeder and straw blower. Regular tasks include rolling grain and preparing premixes. You will be a tidy and conscientious worker and be expected to maintain equipment and a clean yard.
You will assist in processing bought in stock and selecting animals for slaughter, so will need to be confident around cattle and be able to handle them in a calm manner.
Other duties will include fencing, fertiliser application, and other grassland management tasks.
There is a small suckler herd so experience of calving and handling cows is an advantage.

JCB to appeal French court ruling on patent breaches

JCB has announced its intentions to appeal a French court’s ruling on patent breaches against Manitou.

On February 26, 2021, the Paris Court of Justice (Tribunal Judiciaire) found that Manitou was guilty of infringement of certain JCB patent claims, JCB says.

It awarded JCB damages of €150,000 plus €50,000 in attorney fees.

In a statement, the UK machinery giant claimed:

The case concerned two specific European Patents [the 065 patent and 965 patent] held by JCB, which are also the subject of ongoing infringement proceedings against Manitou in the UK and Italy.

Announced yesterday, Tim Rycroft, who is currently Chief Operating Officer of the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) will take up his position in the levy board on 31 August this year, replacing Jane King.During the intervening period the interim AHDB CEO will be Ken Boyns, AHDB Chief Finance and Operations Officer.

Mr Rycroft joined FDF in 2015 where he was responsible for strategy and corporate affairs, as well as overseeing the federation’s policy on diet and health and on competitiveness.
