A Moore Contracting out with the John Deere 6195R on the Kubota Geospread spreading fertiliser onto some Oil Seed Rape, given the heavy rain this was the first-day land was half decent to get spreading. Kubota Geospread was applying Urea at approx 160kg/ha spreading at 24 metre tramlines. Andy is in the John Deere 6195R big lady in the fleet now.

With the madness of the first cut and the weather, Bru was on the silage pit with the crew from Lyons Contracts bringing in the first cut late one evening. Chopping with the 9900i and 7 trailers on the go it was a steady flow of nice fresh silage being tipped.

Hunniford Farms out spreading slurry with the New Holland T7.270 Blue Power on the 12m Slurry kat Dribble bar, and the trio of Slurrykat tankers carting with New Holland T7s on the front. Tho how impressive does that Tri Axle tanker look!! You would think days like this would be a summer's day, but glad to catch one of the Slurry outfits from Hunniford Farms. 9800 John Deere cutting spring whole crop just outside Eglinton late one evening. TJ Montgomery's fleet got a new addition with the new shape 6155R with Shakey getting to give her legs a little stretch out. Both 6155rs and the Puma 165 are on cart duties this evening.

James on the John Deere 6920 with the C441 combi baler baling straw at the home farm on a marvelous evening. The John Deere C441 was a new addition in 2022 to the farm to help speed up the silage round bale contracting side. But the ever-present John Deere 6920 provides the horsepower up front and doesn't she sound brilliant!! The round bales of straw are both sold on local farms as well as the farm keeps them for the fattening of cattle over the winter period. The field was cut with the New Holland

Squeak in the @JohnDeere 6150R on the @SlurryKatEngineering 12m dribble bar spreading digestate onto grass for the coming season. This is one of the 3 outfits from Lyons Contracts at the slurry and videos of the other two setups to follow shortly. Carting with 4 tankers to the nurse tank squeak was kept on his toes all day. Unfortunately, nurse tank footage as a nice set of power lines was above it.

Drenagh Farms goes mowing first cut silage ground at the home farm with the New Holland T7.245 and the Case IH Puma 185. Drenagh Farms runs a set of Claas Triple mowers and a set of doubles. This was the first night out with my new drone last year and it's a little shakey from both me and the wind picked up. Much different setup now on the farm compared to this at the start of last season

A Moore Contracting John Deere 6195R baling straw just above Ballykelly with Adam at the helm. Spring Barley straw needed to be cleared so the field could be ploughed and sowed out again with winter wheat. The Massey Ferguson 185 baler is one of two balers on the farm with Andy on the other baler just up the road at another block of ground.

Selwyn in the Claas Xerion 3800 mowing with the triple mowers. Usually, run in pairs but I think the Xerion 3300 was mowing further up the road for a local beef farm. Lyons Contracts run two of these mowing setups and they can drop grass at speed and maneuver easily on the headlands Tho is she driving forward or in reverse? Was asked this recently.

David is out with the John Deere 6155R spreading slurry on an outlying farm with the 12m Agquip dribble bar. Jamison Farms as from my previous videos has mostly been all potato work but they are also a dairy farm growing cereals as well. Back on the pump is another John Deere 6155R on the DODA pump with the AH compressor.

The RABDF is shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden death of dairy industry stalwart Ian Potter.



Ian, a giant of the dairy industry for three decades, died on Monday, 27 February 2023, due to medical complications following a short illness.

Throughout his career in the dairy industry- be that as a quota broker, a columnist in Dairy Farmer magazine for 25 years, a commentator and reporter through his own weekly bulletin, and as a farmer in his own right, he always had the interests of dairy farmers at heart. Ian was also instrumental in the smooth running of the National Fallen Stock Scheme.

Ian was rewarded for his outstanding service to the dairy industry in 2010 when he was presented with the RABDF Princess Royal Award at Buckingham Palace.
