Electric winders

In the classic class my mate turned up with 2 electric motors fitted to his plough (genius) idea and neat and tidy job.

Would you say it's against the rules or just the spirit of them.

We had loads of banter about getting him a stana stair lift so he could get on and off the tractor.

I am not in sop so don't have a rule book.

He knows I am posting this on here not looking for confrontation just opinion.

Motors and gearboxes from old golf trolleys

He can't adjust from the seat

Have seen people using cordless impact drivers doing the same thing.

The SOP rule book states the in the Classic class hydraulic cross shafts are not allowed but screw threads are allowed. The motor only turns a
screw thread and so under present rules must be allowed. There is no mention of how the depth wheel is to be operated. Anyone who says the plough must be as manufactured would exclude 90 per cent of the plough at any match.

Sorry but wrong. Nothing other than hand operated adjustment. If mechanical or hydraulic were allowed in the Classic it would have been done by now. There are at least two of us with tractors already kitted up with hydraulics.
Electric actuators have been used by some of the European world style competitors for years now. The guy who won the world at Lincoln had a couple on - one of them on his cross shaft.

Sorry Howard but unless something is specifically listed as illegal, its legal! The sop shot itsself in the foot by using the word hydraulic, if it had said powered then they could be banned.

Just wondering how you got on at Morville yesterday Dealer? I couldn't stop for the results, needed to get home, then had a blow out on the trailer half way back! Do you have a photo of the classic results by any chance? I was abit further down with the super dexta.

My take on this is that it is the thin edge of the wedge, I completely understand why Tony M has done this as it allows him to enjoy his chosen hobby without inflicting pain upon himself, however 1) if he starts doing some serious winning the stewards tent will need enlarging to fit in the complaining fellow competitors and 2) it will open the flood gates for all kinds of infringements, rule breaking possibly, against the spirit of classic ploughing, definitely, sorry Tony, just my view of it.

Thin end, probably, but there is only room to insert it because the rule is badly written. It states hydraulic, if it had said powered, it would have been watertight.

Sorry to hear about the tyre hope it was all safe and under control

I along with most in the field thought I had made a decent job

Unfortunately the man giving the scores thought other wise, I would have asked him why if he had not left before the results were announced.

I am posting 3 plot pictures you can rank them I will then post the score sheet I won't say which won until later
