GPS mapping of land for Land Registry maps

I've agreed to sell a couple of small part fields and need to get them mapped for the documents.
The old fashioned architect woman who used to do these by triangulation has retired.

To quote our builder 'Is there an app for that?'

Can land agents etc get a map out of their handheld Trimble thingys? 1:1250 or 1:2500 would suit?

Thanks

If you want it PROPERLY surveyed then a civil surveying contractor will do it with a GPS survey rig for sensible money and produce a map &/or CAD drawing accurate to the inch. DEFRA/RPA will accept their mapping as accurate. It will include contours so you'll get an accurate surface area, not just an area assuming it's flat.

Used to do this for a living. You're out of my area but pm me if you want some names.

Thanks for the info but I'm reluctant to do more than the Land Registry needs as they are reluctant to help out when I ask for info back.:mad:.

Promap may be the way forwards. I don't mind paying but the old fashioned architect was on £4-500 per drawing due to the time it took her. Just trying to make use of new tech.

Hi, we (SoilEsssentials Ltd) do a fair amount of field measuring / mapping. This is for growers and land management reasons alike. We use our own RTK network, EssentialsNet and some post processing. This makes the job about 10 cm accurate.

This is not a desktop exercise but a hard walk on the ground between permanent structures or around cropped areas. We do most, but not all, of this work in Scotland and we work well with the government department on this. We charge by the hour plus mileage so it is good value. Phone SoilEssentials on 01356650459 and ask for Alison.

sorry to hijack...if I want trees plotted accurately in a field (Woodland burial ground) how would that be done? I don't want to put gps markers in the ground so a true plot map is needed for the future

Could drive a tractor with Trimble and RTK around the boundaries.

Where you go from there I do not know.
as the plot is only 16m x 28m the width of the tractor missing off the plot could cost me £1000 in area terms. ;)
It has been mapped with handheld Trimble, it's just a case of what to do with the data to create a map for Land Registry. There could be a couple of dozen to do in the next couple of years. ;)

Hi SoilEssentials here again. WE are doing some mapping in Yorkshire in July and could tie this in. If you wanted, we could look at some of the mapping data you have and assess how accurate it is and if it needs remapping. One Trimble handheld is not like another! Cheers Robert
