I have some fields coming out if grass this autumn. They are really thick with clover, was a mix or italian and prg in there too.
Chalk will be applied as needed, I intend to go wheat as the rest of the block is due for wheat so want to keep it simple.
drill Mid September or later?

Not sure yet, won't be mine. It'll depend on someone else drilling it for me.
So what's your plan? As said I have no idea on direct drilling But it would be such a shame to bring up all the blackgrass seed after 2 years of no seed return on top. So I'm planning to silage 3rd cut first week of sept or as soon as I can finnish harvest then let grass green up well to create a cover from the sun to stop baking the soil wait for a few days rain to soften it then drill then roundup off grass it the drill won't get it in ground in autumn I will graze it all winter and do it in spring. Drill will be mounted weaving gd so getting it in the ground will probably be the issue

Haven't really got one yet tbh.
Currently got sheep grazing it, will get the chalk done at the same time as the neighbouring fields. I'll roundup pre drill most likely.
The fields are nice and level at the mo, I don't really want to feck that up by ploughing it. No blackgrass to worry about so if I have to I'll plough it, but would rather not.
Probably mole it if I can.
Neighbour has a weaving big disc, will see if that's available, if not I'll have to think again.

I've got a field too that's coming out of a 2yr ley. I'm planning on using simtech as that's what I've got, but having seen the GD in action yesterday I'd be happy to see that work.
Be interested to hear whether pre or post drilling roundup is best.

Without Dursban you might look at a 6 week gap between roundup and drilling unless you have another frit fly control strategy?

Ours will be very hard in Autumn so penetration is my worry. Was the gd yesterday a mounted 4m if so I think it is our new drill
