Can't beat fresh dug potatoes!
Will be a week before I can dig some.

Had to buy a kg out of the shop the other day, first time I have done that in 25 years. Really grates on me!

My wife bought some "baby potatoes" from sainsburys I reckon she thought they were new. They were old crop mids, you could even see where the chits had been knocked off them. Horrible!
Can't beat your own.

I look forward to new potatoes each year but if I don't get some out of dad's garden the crap from the supermarket just ain't worth eating.

Sadly the younger generation don't know or understand quality, seasonal food.New pots straight out of the field and into the pot, with a little mint added, you can't beat it.What do supermarkets offer ? Bland set skin pots ,grown in Egypt with a label saying "new potatoes "
You just can't beat new potatoes with mint and butter,Maris Bard, being one of my favourites.

We had a taste off yesterday with my children, I had new Agria, piper and Sagitta straight from the field. I liked piper best, the children Agria.
