After work on Sunday I took my boots off and my foot hurt. There was a very small sticking out blister, about the size of a 5p piece.

Two days on my foot has swelled and the area of the blister now looks like this.

Any idea what it was or could be. Wear high top boots so it was in my boot but didn't see anything when I took my boot off or feel anything bite during the day.

@rich8100 Please read the attached and have a look elsewhere online - there is a possibility it may be a tick bite - are you sure the 'blister' was not a swollen tick?

If it is a tick bite you may go on to develop Lyme Disease which is treatable as long as caught early but can be horrendous if left untreated for months or years.

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa.../file/463701/LymeDisease_SignsAndSymptoms.pdf

Keep an eye out for symptoms described and be aware that an early test may prove negative but a positive result would show up after a few weeks. Take photos of the rash as it changes.

Looks more like on the ankle to me? Yes, watch out for Lyme disease, Bulls eye looking rash and potentially really, really nasty stuff if not treated. As badshot said, a spider bite is likely with a blister as some of the venom types will liquify your flesh and make a little crater/blister.

Yes on the ankle. Its not a tick. I know what they are as I've pulled many off my old dog.

Was certainly a blister as after the bath I popped it while towel drying. At first I thought of the weed that can cause blisters but now my foot is swelled I'm not sure.

Not been to docs yet as they will just give me antibiotics (and I cant take them as allergic) and antiinflammatory stuff.

And its harvest time for me so we all know there is no time for docs. Will keep an eye on it over the next few days and see if it gets bigger.

Looks like a typical horse fly bite, socks and boot tops will have been irritating it, wash with plenty hot as you can stand very salty water, a good handful of salt to a tumbler of water. Ibugel or similar antiflimflam type gel will help if you are not allergic to that, you can buy over counter. As will antihistamine tablets, again over counter.
Secondary infection is only usual if you scrat it with dirty fingernails.

Spiders

You may be surprised to know that a number of spiders in the UK are capable of giving a nasty nip – usually after rough handling or if they become trapped in your clothes. You can tell it's a spider bite because it leaves little puncture marks. According to the Natural History Museum, false widow spiders, so-called because of their similarity to the more poisonous black widow spider, are the main culprits and typically give bites that cause pain, redness and swelling.

Prevent spider bites: Don't disturb spiders if you can help it – they tend to bite you only when they feel threatened.

Thanks will have a look when I get home.

I did think horse fly but I've had one get me before. And it blooming well hurt. Hand swelled up.like a gallon and was very painful. But didn't have the big bruise I've got now. Wife is bugging me to get checked but I will wait and see what happens. Doesn't hurt just aches a bit at end of day.

I have not been to the doctors for about 20 years but if there was the remotest chance I had a tick bite that "could" cause Lymmes disease I would be there in a shot.
The risk versus the inconvenience is a complete no brainier.

Just had a read of the nhs stuff.

All relatively simple. And I'm 100% sure it wasn't a tick. I'm guessing a spider. As my boots where in the barn on top.of my locker for a week before I wore them on Sunday.

It looks like a spider bite. They make bigger puncture marks than horseflies etc. and then bruise. I have had a couple of false widow spider bites. You don't immediately feel it and then you really do! If it's a horsefly etc. you quickly feel it.

Its all calmed down now. Scab from the blister was ictching yesterday but didn't scratch it and came off in the bath. Swelling has gone and foot feels fine today.

Going to get a new pair of boots soon and not leaving them on my locker anymore.

Thanks again tff.

Apparently there is a southern sabre spider that injects its eggs thru its fangs, and they hatch out under the skin, the babies then work their way under the skin and appear as a spot somewhere else on the body.
