We have a 5 star touring park in South Wales and will gladly give TFF members a 10% discount if any one wants a break from farming and free advice on establishing a touring park (as long as it isn't within 30 miles of ours!). We are open all year and central to reasonably convenient for the Royal Welsh, Cardiff Arms Park

@fixersteve26 - we have a chemical disposal point plumbed into our black waste system culminating in a very large septic tank and soak away. We are now emptying the tank at least once per year as the chemicals used in the caravans tends to slow down the breakdown in the tank and because we have quite a lot of fluid from showers going through the system it tends to force through some sediment. Touch wood it is working quite well!

Just make sure the bogs don't smell and that you can keep stuff clean, so tiled surfaces or something else waterproof and hardwearing. Showers need too be warm, have a decent pressure and well ventilated.

Make sure that the site is quiet after a certain time (11pm?) so people partying into the night don't keep other users up who might have kids etc.

Supply firewood etc as people like fires, but that might need thinking about. fire pits being provided are useful to keep fires in one safer place.

If you want to keep people coming back do the job well.

Nice one @PREES. So what do people do for chemical toilet disposal?? Tank in ground and pumped out periodically??
We have a small camp site, provide clean water tap,tap by waste wash out area, shower and toilet..we are normally full from Easter up to October, then there is usually a few a week in after that.. we find its on the people with tents that use the facilities..
We are about 500meter from coast path (y)

Cheers for that. I applied a couple of weeks ago but not heard anything yet, i was afraid i had missed them/deleted the email. A car was spotted with a caravan club sticker and no tow bar going past where i proposed the site to them the other day and thought i had maybe missed a knock on the door.

Well that was what i was thinking, and maybe just having one group of people per week , kind of rent the whole space for themselves for a week or whatever ,

Thats what we do, all groups and all pre booked, still need planning permison and all we have is a couple of cold water taps from the stream and four composting toilets

One suggestion id make, if you werent restricted on numbers or length of stay would be to try have several caravans that are permanently pitched on site.

The inlaws have there touring caravan permanently pitch on a site 10mins from Aldeburgh, Suffolk. Works really well for them. Its pitched for 6 months and the the site owners tow it off and store (outside) for 6 months. I think they pay around £1500 for this. There is easily 20 caravans there that do this. Easy way of knowing you have 30k coming in. Id guess most of the permanent owners are retires types. Dont get me wrong, its a big site but seems to work well.
