All this talk of UK built trailers .....are they produced using UK steel from UK raw materials? Bit like buying a loaf of bread made in the UK from imported wheat?

Looking at the figures, I don't think iron is mined in the UK these days, so the answer is a simple no.

No I'm not. But how can we ask the consumers to buy our productsif we don't support them?
How much extra would UK steel cost over imported atm?

Until a few months go all of the steel produced in UK was owned by TATA....along with the iconic British Landrover, Jaguar etc.

The trouble is steel is a commodity, and if we demand British steel the stockholders buy steel from wherever they can get is supplied. It's difficult to rely entirely upon British supplies.

Is British steel better than imported? I know for certain that British food is!

Just on the dolly to move it around the yard.

We hire an artic unit every year, surprisingly cheap.
Trailer was less than £5k, has a weigher fitted too, holds 29t of barley.

I refuse to disclose what this rig weighs when full of barley!
or spuds....
How do you tip the artic? Donkey engine? Can't be enough oil in back end of tractor?

Artic bulkers aren't always the answer.

Got ours back Saturday ! Almost looks like a Stewart. Wax oiled it today. Hopefully do another few years.

Company that prepares steel for going out to north sea did job of shot blasting and respraying so hopefully last a while.

Anyone remember Norton trailers

couple coming up for sale near me in a few weeks....both 8 tonne fixed side trailer. One is on sprung 6 stud axle with brakes on all 4 wheels

the other is on rocking beams, has brakes on all 4 wheels but came from the factory with just two brake rams which work the brakes on the front pair of wheels, and have a cable running to the handbrake

the brake levers on the rear wheels have never had nothing connected to them from new!

Used to see them a lot on farms in south east, shame they not in business any more
