Tine drill to disc drill comparison

so I made the plunge and bought a disc drill after being a timn drill believer for 8 years.

So first impressions-

Seems a lot of bits to go wrong, not sure if it will cope with heavy trash, what happens to wheelings from the combine etc..,

Well so far it has actually been far more simple to set depth, although forward speed is crucial. Seed placement is better and today I had both dale and weaving gd going but the rain stopped the dale(straw blocking up, it was baled but left long)

But I would say they are both good drills but hopefully the less disturbance and closer seed widths of the gd will give some advantages but time will tell

What sort of min til before the gd are you doing? Feedback on what you are doing would be appreciated! What cultivations were you doing before accord tine seeder?
Well I call it min till but some may call it heavy non inversion tillage. We sumo trio then either cultipress or power Harrow then drill with the ts. We are doing very similar with the gd but I'm aiming to get it finer and rolled down to allow it to settle and chit before being sprayed off and drilled with minimum disturbance. We have done one field with power Harrow into stubble very shallow then rolled leaving it to chit then plan to drill grass seed in a couple of weeks and planning to drill rape in one field after s barley direct and have one field after 2 year grass ley to put into ww direct all rest will be cultivated this year

Disc drills are the ultimate when soil conditions are friable and you have a free draining soil type. (I have used a disc drill for the last 18 years) BUT if you need a bigger drilling window and your soils are not free draining than you might just find a tined drill is a better option. We have used both tined and disc drills to see what effect they had on BG and we cannot tell the difference...just the tractor tyres or the levelling harrow can set off a BG flush.
