Are they worth much? There's one in my Grandparents old house which is being knocked down for redevelopment.

Can't say I was ever that fussed by it, Grandma had a proper oven next to it to cook anything more technical than a slow roast, and the thing drank heating oil, the cat liked it though.

I took one out of a customers house, stuck it in the shed for a couple of months before I got round to trying to sell it, mice moved in quite quickly and nested in the insulation, its now on the scrap heap

seems they are worth bugger all secondhand - a new one will cost you 12k though

I hate the things but can't have a farmhouse without one ! will be putting a load of Miele stuff into the new kitchen to actually cook decent food on, reconditioning the old Aga so the dogs have something to sleep next to really !

Yes but I don't think they are much good in a well insulated house? They just turn the house into a sauna, maybe cut down on the insulation budget!

will shrink wrap it on a pallet I think - can see me giving this away for next to nothing and then be looking for one in a few years time !

Ironically not long ago bought a new one for a barn converse (12k ) and having one referred for my farmhouse renovation for 5k !
I would recommend ringing Phil green at Martley. He renovates them. He will give you some guidance on the best way to store it etc

Strange. 20 odd years ago, second hand ones were like gold dust. We quite literally had people fighting over ours when we advertised it.

Are they seriously all they are cracked up to be?

On another thought - is it better to buy a cheaper make, and then in 10 years replace it when it breaks so your appliances don't end up looking outdated from being so reliable?

Had it at my old house I sold last year, oven, steam oven, microwave combi and bean to cup coffee / warming draws etc

Wouldn't consider anything else, it's brilliant kit with top notch back up and service

Even I can cook a perfect Sunday roast in it !

Is the steam oven useful, and what do you use it for, I know all pubs and restaurants have them but not sure what part they play?

Does really nice veg and fish - sure it does lots more than that but you would have to ask my wife (my cooking skill is very limited Vs hers !!)

Was also handy when boys were babies for sterillizing bottles !
