Been loading barley and have got a stye on the corner of my eyelid. Bank holiday weekend, and its getting quite big and nasty. Wife says leave it be. Any idea the best angle of attack to try and squeeze the goo out? Will wash hands first!

Barley awn? Think I would make the time to go to your local A&E or ring your nearest eye hospital for advice. It may need antibiotics - little bits of straw/awns under the skin always seem to go yucky - stitch in time.......... and all that.

Just imagine the queues in A&E on bank holiday Monday:eek:

Had a plague of them when I was at skool, the headmaster's wife rubbed her wedding ring over the affected eye for several days and I've never had another one in 60 years. She said the gold 'cured' it. Worth a try but I'd still get a professional to have a look.

On closer inspection (not squeezing, honest) it appears to be blocked tear duct. Will ask Mrs Static to bring me some optrex or generic equivalent from the cupboard. Mrs Static's daddy was a GP, so if it gets crosser (no squeezing) I will ask his opinion on Sunday.

Tea bags. Seriously! just lay one in a shallow dish and just about cover with boiled water, allow it to cool enough so you wont burn the tender skin and place it over your eye till it cools, then chuck it, repeat every few hours.

Go to any chemist and get a tube of Golden Eye, or ask for Chloramphenicol. Warm the tube in your hand before applying or you will never get it out of the tube. Will work very quickly.

If its a blocked duct then try & stop it solidifying. A hot flannel (as hot as you can tolerate) morning and evening might shift it. You don`t really want the op.......anesthetised eyeballs still see the scalpel blade coming! Had the op 4 times so almost used to it now! lol

Ow. Watching a scalpel coming towards me wouldn't encourage me to stay still.

First time I had it it was white knuckles on the couch frame and sweating like facing a firing squad, consultant said "You might want to relax".......................... wasn`t the first thing on my mind. :ROFLMAO:
