Despite being a very wet year It's been a great growing year, still got half my fert in the shed, not going to buy any next year.(y)

Likewise plenty of rain about here. Wet from Mid June to early august has left a lot of people's grazing in a much less productive state now to end the season with. I've been lucky with the cows housed, so only my heifers were able to cause damage at that time. I retained a slightly larger than usual area through the summer for cutting, due to higher than average growth. The result is that my pits are very full and there's no room for fourth cut. So for the first time in a very long time, I've only sown the rough grazing with one bag of CAN per acre to keep some grass on it, and just jogging the large cut area along with 2000gl slurry. The cut ground has already had 3000gl three times, so there should be a bit of residual power there along with another 2000 to rise the covers for the autumn. Can't help feeling slightly apprehensive though about having the last bag sowing for the year back in late June after 2nd cut on the cutting ground!

Just about, not fit to leave for more than a milking though,we'd done all the complicated stuff beforehand.

Just remember, one day it will all carry on with or without you, none of us are indispensable  As someone said to me once, you are " here for a good time not a long time".

Have stayed in ceredigion a few times, aberaeron and blaenpennal. stayed just outside fishguard last year so have explored south ceredigion quite well. Everything is usualy booked last minute, ie less than a week to go ! Ended up in a caravan in pendine for the week. Usualy stop on the way home for a treat in aberaeron ;)

Blaenpennal:eek: often wondered why anyone would stay there:whistle:

What do you reckon @rc mx110

Not far from us mind:unsure:

How to people go about setting acr's? The vet says they should come off when milk flow reaches 450 millilitres of milk per minute.
Now the settings for the acr's are just a number range from 50-250....no direct correspondence with milk flow.......so how do people know what the milk flow actually is when they set an acr?......is it just a matter of watching the milk slow down to a trickle in the cluster claw bowl and making an average guess for the herd? of do people use some kind of accurate in line flow meter?

Well I was told they should come off at 350 ml per minute. So I looked and found 350 and set them there, I guess that's 350 ml
