It would fit if the sump and oil pick up pipe were changed over. And the injector pump. The other engine he has, presently in a major,is the one to have, a 360T or 2704ET. Said to be the best of the 2700 series engines.
Most of those old D series lorry engines will by now be pumping out blue smoke and have piston slap and a noisy camshaft.
Probably better to see what your own needs first and overhaul it, although if it is the original engine, which should be a 2715E(380),there aren't any liners and so it will likely need bored and sleeved.Parts aren't cheap for them either!

It's finding the adapter plate could be the problem there.Come to think of it,a good 6.354 is scarce too.Would like to put an Powerstar into my 121 but they're big money too!

i would fix what you've got or fit a more modern engine. Fitting a 6.354 is a daft idea as it's another old engine probably of unknown origin. And as said are scarce as well.

Come to think of it the original ford engines probably are pretty hard to find as well.

Would a Ford 401 as per the 8210 etc fit? there probably easier and cheaper to come by?

A 6 354 is not daft at all. Worth fitting just for the sound, bit like a fine Swiss watch, only smoother
Either that or a powerstar

Stick your sump and manifolds onto this?

Best to take the front fan off, throw a bit of water in the block, and start all secondhand engines on the floor.
Checking oil pressure when hot ...........
Might save a lot of work

putting engine politics and my engine is better than yours arguments to one side in this situation it is. The engine failed due to a fault with an external component. Simplest option is to fix what's there or replace like for like if a good one could be found. Tractor isn't pulling a 6 furrow plough all day so more power etc isn't needed.

Yes Perkins engines are very good. I've had them in machines for 20years now and have 12500hrs 1st hand experience of them. But if you are going to mess about converting it why bother with a 30 year old engine that is probably in just as much need of repair as what's in at the moment.

Either fit a power star or a 1000.6 Perkins like the mf3095 had. Much better than anything designed in the 60s/70s.

No doubt you are right, I just like the sound of a 6 354
I'm thinking of chucking the telly out and having a 6 354 in the front room to sit and listen to, but sadly I'm not allowed

Yes I can see your point. It will be a lot better than strictly X factor popstars dancing on ice with no talent. Or Coronation-emmer-enders

can we go back to the original problem? When the engine ran away did the stop operation feel normal, if the rack was stuck, so would the stop have been.Have you checked the engine oil level. I have a feeling that either the thermostart, or lift pump have been leaking, in the first case filling the head and manifold with diesel, and through the open inlet valve the bore and sump. The fact that it now seems to have stuck, bears this out, you have an hydraulic lock in one cyl.

Sorry about that, we digressed ............
The original poster has the rack in the pump freed out, but seems reluctant to take the head off, to have a look.
Understandable if it over revved
