Should we have 1 Classic Class, or would you like 2 ?

would you like to see the Classic class remain as it is or split up into 2 classes,

  • I like it as it is and dont want change

  • Yes i think 2 Classic classes would be a better option for the ploughmen in that class

  • I just dont know

well as over a week has past and no one has posted an up date, I waited to see if anyone or a director would of replied.

it was brought up at the meeting last week, it was felt that the general opinion of the ploughmen, and more so the classic ploughmen wanted it left as it is, so it will be left as it is for now, whether it will be brought up again is anyone's guess,

as for some of you thinking it that there is some secrecy of what goes on at the directors meeting, i did ask about this a week or so before the meeting, and said it does not seem to give the ploughmen access to any info of the meeting,
it was given out at the meeting, that the directors should talk more to ploughmen about what things are proposed and get a feeling of the ploughmen thoughts are on any proposals before the meeting,

so those of you that feel in the dark, please talk to your local director for any info you need,
The local director in my area got chucked out.

I feel the SOP is its own worst enemy regarding this situation. The Society has a web page and a face book page where much of this information could be made readily available and discussed whenever ploughmen meet up. The directors should remember that they were given this honoured position to represent us, the members. We pay our subs to keep the whole Society afloat and need to be kept better informed and be given a chance to air our views without fear of scornful replies or intimidation.

Quite right Richard. Secrecy may or may not be the intention but it has often been the result, the old mushroom growing analogy perhaps.

You are fortunate enough to have a director who will bother with you John, since Plowgate many feel they cannot approach directors for fear of repercussions, Did Plowgate start in you county ?

In all a can of worms.

The last debacle illustrates how the society has been run for years, basically on a need to know basis.

However a proposal originates, it is sanctioned by the Executive. It is then furtively passed to the Directors who sanction it again. Meanwhile the members know nothing of it.

It is then presented to the members for their vote as having already been passed by the Directors. The members, thus far led by the nose, then rubber stamp it. Few are man enough to stand up and say their piece because true to form, it may well hinder their success in future.

What the last debacle did was to upend the process. Just a chance remark led to a successful campaign against a needless change. When given a free hand, the Directors agreed with the electorate.

For years members have been excluded from the process. Surely the wants and recommendations of the members should be passed through the Directors, the transit being in the opposite direction to what happens now. lets not forget - the executive is very similar to the European Union with largely unelected people making the rules. Currently there is very little dialogue between Directors and members. It has often been remarked in the past that the upper echelons did not like the members to know what was on the Directors calling papers.

Whilst I admire your Pennine loyalty to your Cumbrian Director John, by removing him from suspicion, you have successfully put the finger on a significant figure in the Spanish Inquisition move to oust Directors. He was however, complicit with it.

The proposal to remove the directors came from Cumbria ? or have I got that wrong ?
I would have thought the proposal started in the Doncaster area with somebody having his arm up a puppets backside telling him what to do and say just like the sooty and sweep show :LOL::LOL:
