ford focus bonnet

Can't open the bonnet on my 53 plate focus, it's that stupid gay key under the badge system:mad:
The key won't turn in the lock at all either way.
So now how do I open the bonnet?

No I will not be weighing it in!
Yes there are better cars about but it's what I have

Advice please
@multi power you had this with yours? very common fault apparently

I'm sorry rc , you are incorrect there, there are NOT better cars to be had
We never had any bother, just fill it with fuel and drove it, never ever let us down (it did get a puncture once mind)
Sorry I can't be of more help

Try your spare key. On my 06 plate transit the key I used daily was worn so wouldn't open the bonnet but spare would

Add wd40 to the keyhole.

Press down /thump the bonnet whilst trying to turn the key.

Pull the key out sligthly before trying to turn it.

Use a spare key rather than the ignition key that you use all the time.
Thats a good start if the mechanism isn't just stuck but I think You'll find the little ally peg that goes into the lock mechanism is broke.

Does the key turn at all @rc mx110 ?

Different keys and wd 40 will not make the slightest difference.
The key barrel is mounted in a plastic housing. On the back of the barrel is a square peg that locates into the actual lock mechanism drive. It is the lock mechanism that is seized not the key barrel. It's a sealed unit buried behind plastic panels so no chance of getting any lube in.

The way I did it was from underneath. Trim thing off behind bumper and you can get your arm up in front of the radiator.
Can't remember 100% but I think there's a bit of trim held on with 2 screws that was a complete twunt to get off.
Once off you can see the lock mechanism.
You need to drill an 8mm ish hole right in the middle at the bottom. You can then get a screwdriver in to flick the latch.

I know all this because I had 2 days trying to fathom it. In the end I ordered a new mechanism to cut up and figure out how it works

So why then on my old transit will one key do it and one not?
