Which Plough Bodies ?

I am assisting a colleague build two "Off the Shelf" plough bodies for use in the "World Style" class. His reasoning is that he is unable to be involved with the amount of engineering and development work he perceives as being necessary to achieve a good standard of ploughing using e.g, the Kverneland K25, Super Hydrien or Bonning bodies ? ( not to mention the cost ? ) He just wants to get on and plough to a good standard using "Off the shelf" bodies and at the same time use his younger than classic class tractor.

He is considering using either Ransomes UCN or SCN bodies which he believes can work at a depth of 20cm ( 8" ) and can still be obtained as used or shop soiled parts, doesn't require a degree in engineering to carry out the necessary modifications or a bank over draft !! Are UCN or TCN's likely satisfy his needs ?

We would welcome your views please ?

Best Wishes for the New Year ( ps my first posting so go easy on me please !! )

Standard super hydriens are the cost effective, and still competitive option. My plough scored "in the mix" at York, the operation kept it out of the plough off! A poor start and finish, were nothing to do with the bodies!

Many thanks for your comments gents. My colleague has decided to go for super hydriens believing that they are still very competitive against k25's and don't require the same degree of re-engineering to be competitive, which having used supers and K25 I agree with ! Many thanks

Ray, whilst quire expensive Mark Weston at Westlake will have the frogs you need, you will only need frogs, shares and points, all the rest will match, last time I bought a set of frogs off him they were £60 each, recycled of course, but that could have been 10 years ago

It is possible to modify you're bar point bodies to accept shares and points.

If you look underneath, you will see a socket where the point goes thru, at the front of the body, you need to cut all that away, then offer up you're new point to the body and drill 2 holes, then do the same with the wing.
You will also need to cut the front end off the landsides and they are longer for bar points but it's not a big job.

That's what I did with mine rather than buy new frogs and it works fine enough

Did phone Westlake few months ago and he had. none.would the one piece share fit in with same mod u did ?its not spring loaded bar just goes through eye bolt on leg

There's the socket which bolts to the leg which u lock the bar point with, unbolt that, then look underneath and you will see at the tip of the body where the bar goes thru again.
It's the front socket which need to be removed as that's where the holes will be for the point when you drill them

I can't see how the one piece shares would be any different to fit, it's still the same process
