Hello,

I'm looking to buy a domain name, and several companies are offering the one I want for 99p

I presume this is a yearly fee..? And I presume it won't be 99p every year?

What is the usual annual cost for a domain name? From GoDaddy or 1&1 etc.

Do you actually own the demain name or just rent it?
Say I had a business called www.annoyingweener.com then the lastest big band on X factor was also called annoying weener, would they have to pay me to get the demain name back? Or are you fobbed off?

They would have to buy it from you, you babe your price

You do effectively rent them but they can't simply be taken away from you except in some extreme (passing off) cases

I have a friend who made a lot of money buying sone very good domain names in the early days of the internet that he then sold on latter for big numbers

I find it interesting seeing big companies that don't have the obvious choice as their domain names, presumably refusing to pay the big money.

It will be 99p to suck you in then you'll pay an increasing fee every year, it'll probably be something like 9.99 2nd year. I took out a 3 year rental on a domain name and I think it was about £15, the first year was £1, then next 2 years were more.
