Unusual choice, until I Googled him;

https://www.rishisunak.com/campaigns/standing-farmers

What makes him stand out for you?

Neil Parrish is the only one that I can think of. Owen Patterson's hard Brexit stance isn't in our interests at all & I quite like the idea of environmental payments for providing what the taxpayers seem to want to support, even if it's not food production. I think the days of global commodity production here are numbered unless we get a weak £ to tilt the balance in our favour. Perhaps I should be picking a Labour candidate instead?

Come on, @gone up the hill - who do you think is the best of a bad bunch? You're happy enough to denounce the other suggestions.

All these schemes suggested are totally unworkable and basically are selling the industry down the river!

If Useless is still pushing insurance for TB breakdowns, even with a government underwrite, that was a no in 2004. The insurance companies couldn't stop laughing when I spoke to the underwriters. :whistle:
NE new stuff to replace ELS appears to have hit some buffers with regards to payments. It appears to be a mess.

Countryside Stewardship IS a mess! Never mind the appearance! Expect lots of NGOs like the RSPB sticking their tuppence worth into any future schemes too, so it only suits themselves.

But that is the just the sort of schemes that the likes of NP/ the NFU etc etc are pushing to replace the BPS payments.

Very likely that the NT/RSPB etc will be the ones who end up getting 80/90% of future money post subs as these schemes are just unworkable for the majority of working farms.

Doubt it will make much difference who gets the job.
Whoever it is will just have to toe the party line since Brexit that subsidies in their current form have to go and that only payments for environmental schemes should remain. Oh, and don't go upsetting the supermarkets or let food inflation upset treasury figures either.

Quite entertaining looking at the suggestions made on here followed by the local's saying "No way, round here we all know they are a to$$er"
Bit like when your local big noise farmer is featured in FW and comes across as a great expert to the rest of the country;)
