All this talk of drought...you guys might have to consider immigrating to south coast of Oz....

Sorry...couldn't help myself...

Ant.....

Had a look around a sugar cane farm north of Port Douglas / Mossman last October.
I could probably live with 42 degree heat, but you can keep your bloody spiders and snakes!

Dahh thats devils country up there - floods and sh*t...big things that bite in your dunny....

I work in Queensland and why anyone lives here is beyond me...

We have a few tiger snakes but ive found since cleaning my farm and having the bird bangers go off at start of spring..i never see one...plus im always burning when possible...

P.S. Sugar cane is not farming - its called being lazy...

The ground was too wet to get fert on in feb/early march then it was too windy its looking better than it was a week ago but not sure it will recover

Really?
Ground has never travelled so well for the time of year this past 6 months.
If it as wet ground as that then should it really be cropped at all?

I knew that I couldn't live in Oz when I read about a 'tradie' working on a building site, who had been bitten by a redback while using a portaloo. And then bitten again on the same place 5 months later...

“Going back 80 years or so when people were still using outhouse toilets it was extremely common, something like up to 80 per cent of cases of spider bites were bites on the male genitalia” :dead:
