And back out after paying my bills.

I just love this weather at this time of year. Always think how lucky I am to be a farmer.... Then mud and problems come and spoil it.

It's just the basic manure management plan for farm assurance, using their own template. It says a 450 kg cow requires 0.025ha / head to keep N limits under 250kg ha. At that rate 1 ha is enough for 40 cows so they are assuming a total Number excretion of 6 kg per cow. 60 would seem a more sensible figure than 6 so I would say the decimal point is in the wrong place but I don't really care it's their own template and I've filled in the same one for years now, just upping cow numbers a bit most years.

Don't know how I can turn the heifers out into this

As @TomB says the curse of the sheep lives on:banghead::banghead:
Yes I know there is some weeds :rolleyes:but if I sprayed them off there'd be even less on the field:(
To be fair the milk cows have grazed on this field for 2 days about 3 weeks ago but there wasn't much on then

Not bad for a twin served today at 18 months of age sexed semen, not too bad I reckon;):)(y) View attachment 499838View attachment 499842View attachment 499844

Have you put any n fert on? Looks a bit hungry, have you ever done any reseeding? Or soil analysis?

Much of our grazing was stale old permanent pasture, on reseeding it grows masses more grass and is more palatable. Well worth the effort.

How high up is your farm in the Peak District? That heifer looks like she needs some grass!
