Ok it's fathers birthday and want to get him a decent one £120 what do guys suggest and links please. He bought a cheap one from machine mart and says it's not strong enough

I have a small one of these. I rebuilt my 5 ton farm trailer using it. Perfect.Get him a darkening helmet as well because this saves a heap of messing. Good rods help too.

Probably superceeded now but I can't fault it. nothing plasticky about any part....

@Robt I changed the feed wire from the fuse board to cooker wire terminating at a 16Amp socket on the wall, fitted a 16Amp plug to the welder & made a dedicated 16Amp lead with corresponding plugs/sockets all wound on an old hose reel that will reach outside my workkshop. This ensures there is minimum power drop and the welding run is good.
