I wouldn't be surprised if RT weren't gunning for the OP, given his forthright and IMO correct views on RT and these other schemes.

They like to make an example of dissenters to warn off any other would be rebels.

..ok take your point...but how does paperwork negate the problem?

if a farmer can explain his methods verbally and demonstrate them physically (eg show the rodent bait station) to an inspector... then what good is a lot paperwork that can be made up?

This aspect of RT annoys me most of all. My brain hasn't deteriorated to such an extent that I can't remember where my rat bait stations are or when they need checking. It takes me longer to fill in the paperwork than inspect and maintain the stations. It's the same with stored grain. It's not rocket science that warm wet grain needs dealing with quickly. Messing about with calibrated thermometers and writing down the bleeding obvious just wastes valuable time.

There needs to be paperwork and box ticking it can't be down to one inspectors' interpretation.

Asda Walmart turnover in 2016 was £22.4bn. So approx 0.0013 of 1% of turnover. I've no idea what @Clive's turnover is, but if it was £10m that would equate to a fine of £133.

I never understood why grain quality and hygiene wasn't a self policing matter. If I was a merchant I would be taking an interest in my customers storage standards myself, not relying on Red Tractor.

Isn't the merchant rejecting a load sufficient penalty for a slip up, without having to activate the Red Tractor layer, which is purely bureaucratic and doesn't necessarily reflect the situation on the ground.?

why?.....all paperwork proves is that the farmer is thinking about what he's doing....or just sitting down one wet day with a load of different coloured pens and writing it up?

i'd suggest an inspector who can't interpret isn't up to the job

whats needed is an 'app' linked to a calendar that automatically generates ficticious records which can be printed out as and when

Precisely. It's not like supermarkets who are so large, compared to their customers that they could pretty much make up their own rules, hence the need for FSA etc.

This is a valid point , we should be able to upload data to RT immediately at the point of operation , writing stuff down is so old hat.
