Started lugging hay in as it's had fathers compulsory week of weathering outdoorsView attachment 541472

best way to stack round bales? This way! (for this shed) (if they're four foot) dad said he's willing to put on my cv "good at stacking" for when I go for that better paying shelf filling job at Aldi. :whistle:View attachment 541474moved heifers off the peat (before they moved themselves) and topped the rushes. Keep the landlords happy!View attachment 541490
Gathered the ewes this evening and drew out some lambs for town. View attachment 541492

Saw something I never seen before. A lamb excitedly jumped out of the trailer and knock himself out on the last deck support bar, He fell in a ruck, bawled and just lay there motionless, but still breathing. After five helpless minutes of thinking he was going, He opened his eyes and jumped up, albeit a bit wobbly. Will see what the morning brings. :nailbiting:
Do you turn the bales @mixed breed ?

Huge thanks to @Kiwi Pete and Sarah for being such good hosts (y). I think we managed to discuss most of what's wrong with the UK and NZ at the moment

I look forward to meeting you again.

I look forward to meeting you again.
It was our pleasure.

As you would have noticed, we went to considerable expense and effort to pimp everything up for your stay here in the deep south (y)
Really nice to have been a part of your tour, thanks for our gifts :D have just given a salt powered vehicle her maiden voyage up the hallway! And Gru almost fits in the empty box with enough run-up.
Also, great to confirm that the world out there is as wack as I'd thought

I haven't done allot of work in the last couple days as we are waiting for our second child to be born. So I have been spending a bit of time at home, cutting firewood and other bits and pieces. If you head over to my farm thread there are some updates and a few new videos. Cheers.
Well it's been really busy for about 3 months, we've been harvesting potatoes flat out and unusually, have had a good run. So much so that we have finished in record time. This was finishing the last paddock off which happened to be mine,View attachment 541728 Then we got rained outView attachment 541730 We got going a day later and the last row was a nice sight,View attachment 541734 and the last truck out of the paddock,View attachment 541740 The next job was rock picking, View attachment 541742 I found a beauty!View attachment 541744

I trimmed some branches so I could reclaim a drill width of paddock,View attachment 541746 I got all the spud ground ploughed and lime spread on the home paddock.View attachment 541748 I drilled the lease paddock down to grass and mine to winter wheat,View attachment 541750 I had some issues with the electric fan on my drill not supplying enough air to carry the wheat seeds. I've drilled grass, Lucerne and oats ok but the wheat was just too heavy so I now need to find/build a hydraulic fan for it. I was able to borrow my mate's Lemkin drill to get my wheat in so no great problem. Now it's onto all the other little winter jobs that must be done before it gets hectic again. Like steam cleaning the red mud off the loo so it can go back to the hire shop.View attachment 541760 Here's a beautiful sunrise-ish out our living room window, just splendid. View attachment 541762

Here are my latest videos on YouTube. I forgot to add them onto here after uploading them.

A story tonight.
Poorly Lamb made it threw the night, looking fit as a fiddle he was on the bus to market first thing. Popped in later with a few old ewes. Hanging about waiting for my lambs to sell i got talking to an old farming friend now in his seventies. Having recently had a knee op he was saying how the medical world has sorted a lot of farmers out. When he was young he reckoned the place would be full of 60year olds on sticks. Now even the 80year olds are walking un aided because of knee and hip op's.
"But", he continued, the old walking stick was handy though if you were handling cattle, the old chaps used to say working around cattle without a stick is like going courting without your ....

I'll let you fill in the last bit :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
