Stone damage to harvester

it depends on circumstances , if the contractor picks up 2000 acre a year every year for a decade or more with lots of other digger / tractor work aswel and has one stone go through one year its just one of those things , maybe the farmer will contribute or stump the bill though its not outside the realms of reality for the contractor to foot the bill , if said contractor picks up 100 acre for a customer that cant be arsed rolling and stone picking the lazy farmer should pay 1000%

That's understandable, it's stated in a contract and the farmer is driving it. None of the harvesting I ever did had a contract. Everything handshake deals
it doesn't make a blind bit of difference who's behind the wheel when a stone goes through a forager mate ,best pilot in the world wont see them all, makes no difference how fast you hit the off button in most circumstances either

No it does not. Just of the opinion that things must be very different over there between custom harvesters and farmers. Never even considered that a farmer is liable for a hired machines damages. Never heard of a case of a farmer paying outright for a hired machines repairs. That's why A farmer hires it done right? No repairs.
I had one guy who bought a Rock Stopper to go on a forager & the stone had done £90,000 of damage to a day old machine, He has never had a stone in it for 4 years now

Ive
Why do you not go & roll the farmers silage fields & lift the stones etc like we do for some people, or buy a rock stopper, it is that simple

Ive more than enough to get through without doing a farmers work for him. If he pays us thats fine but its not something theyll hire you in to do round here and besides that we wouldn't have time to roll as theres a short window for doing it in spring here and were always piping slurry. If im sowing or piping in spring I do my best to lift stones. Its not my job to tidy up farmers mess but I do my best to lift anything I see. The next thing theyd have you in milking the cows for them.
