Started lugging hay in as it's had fathers compulsory week of weathering outdoorsView attachment 541472

best way to stack round bales? This way! (for this shed) (if they're four foot) dad said he's willing to put on my cv "good at stacking" for when I go for that better paying shelf filling job at Aldi. :whistle:View attachment 541474moved heifers off the peat (before they moved themselves) and topped the rushes. Gathered the ewes this evening and drew out some lambs for town. View attachment 541492

Saw something I never seen before. A lamb excitedly jumped out of the trailer and knock himself out on the last deck support bar, He fell in a ruck, bawled and just lay there motionless, but still breathing. After five helpless minutes of thinking he was going, He opened his eyes and jumped up, albeit a bit wobbly. Will see what the morning brings. :nailbiting:
I had a lamb jump against a gate in the race once. It hit the floor stone dead:banghead::banghead:

Oh dear, silly mistake(n)

I won't fit a plastic one now, steel all the way! Had to many split, when they came out we all thought they were the future, no rust ect, last a lifetime......how wrong we were! Absolute rubbish!

This one had split underneath, quite strange really, its normally the sun that does for them :scratchhead:

Yes, that is a strange one! Not had that....yet! Like you say, normally sun I think, that and poor design on some of the older models.

As Andy says, it's the effects from the sun, and possibly coupled with pressure/weight of the liquid inside ? Either way, they don't last and are a bad idea in my book, would never recommend one now.

But, I'm sure there are some that are fine, and any that are well shaded from the sun will fare much better. I actually have one , that I pulled from a scrap pile, over 20 yrs ago, it had been cut, by a saw, on the corner, plastic welded it and it's been a good tank, only use it for tank changes now, but it's been outside all its life, and has no splits or signs of them. It's a Balmoral Tank.

Also have one in the yard, just used for water now, with some horrific splits in the top! Not that old, never moved, was on a good base, fairly well shaded....customer was not chuffed with that! (I never supplied it by the way) he's thrilled with his new Bunded steel one though;)(y)
