Combine performance in rape

So next question ,,,,,, many moons ago I always used to lift the table auger to help clear the rape of the table ,,,,, with no extention it was important to clear the header as quick as poss , I have to confess in not lifting the auger on this combine ,,,,,, I prefer to block the auger 10 times than grit my teeth once as a lump goes through the concave ,,,, auger always seems to clear the crop okay tho[/

In OSR we do lift the auger as it tends to feed in more evenly rather than bunching up then going in a lump

Cr 9.80
670 Roter speed concave 25 top sieve8 bottom 3or4. Wind 800 rpm
25 tonnes per hour
Need to keep it full as losses increase at slow speeds

Lift auger to get even speed and less lumps
We did have problems with feeding due to a blunt knife and a blockage in green stawlks

New knife stopped the feeding problems increasing forward speed

Also is it roundup causing3/4 of the grief?

Use a lot of reglone here- much better than roundup imo & not much dearer at 2.5lt/ha & after 4/5 days & its proper dead/fit good to go!

To be fair I wouldn't want any reglone stuff out there at the mo tho even with pod stick !!
Cheers dh

I don't think that glyphosate is a problem as long as the user appreciates that it will be most of 21 days until full benefit is achieved.
So many neighbours that I see are over a week late desiccating and then trying to combine a week or so later, then moaning that their combine of which ever colour is not coping! These people may as well not bother with desiccation and go true direct.

We usually swath and this year missed the boat and had to spray off. Glyphosate takes an age to work. 3 weeks and its only just there and direct seems much harder on the combine.

T550 Deere here. Lifting the auger from 3mm gap to 28mm gap reduces the bunching going into the elevator. Elevator front housing also lifts on a cam to allow better flow of crop up the trunk. Also check the strippers at the back of the auger. I presume the crop is flowing in evenly across the full width of the elevator housing. Otherwise you can bolt auger flights to push more of the crop towards the centre. Can't help with any other options as not familiar with the insides of your machine.

Well I'm hoping that this enforced delay by the weather will mean that when we see a chance to go next week we will see a difference in the crop but as a have a bit of time on my side I will lift my table auger , my elevator is already lifted ,,,,,,, knife being on its own header extension is in pretty new condition tho it will take a few acres to shine up .

Wanting to crack on now but will no doubt will just have to be patient for another couple of days whilst the ground dries off

Well I've been out this evening ,,,,, dried well this afternoon , made a few changes and the up side is that I didn't bung the thing ,,,,,,,,, down side I'm still treading on eggshells as for how much I push for output

Icing on the cake tho is tonight that I've been told that the C670 is not that good in winter beans,,,,,,, suffers with high losses out of the rotors ,,,,,,,,, bleeding marvelous

Never tried our cts in beans but our 680 goes really well !

Just thinking - are you using your reel to drag the rape into the header? & help it feed nice? I lower it down when starting a run then gradually lift it up to a nice compromise height where it's feeding nice & not smashing the rape out! Don't be afraid to -esp with a zurn ext!

I can't get my Premium Flow header to feed well. The osr just bunches in front of the auger and then builds into a lump that goes through with a thump.

I can lift the front elevator stops - will his improve things? The fingers are set to maximum to grab the crop but still it just won't go into the throat quickly enough. Any tips?

on a Claas header is well worth lifting the auger as far up as you can for OSR would imagine the same to be true of other brands

Running same header we always raise the auger this seems to help

That's exactly what we do.
And with the vario table full forward the rape feeds into the augur nicely head first.
Very beginning of a row I have the reel lower to get it started

with a vario you can get the real down to help feeding where needed without fear of header loss as its over the table rather the ground

I remember taking the real off NH combines we ran year ago because we couldn't lift the high enough to prevent massive header loss
