What is an extra Big Mac? Like one and then you have another one?

When I was in college I lived on a diet of mcdonalds and Tim Hortons and actually lost 20 lbs. Not that that is necessarily healthier :ROFLMAO: But there's been lots of studies that shownif your exercise is equal to your intake, even McDonald's won't make you gain anything. Artery health is a different story.

I was recently told by an American that she couldn't afford to live in Canada because she couldn't afford to eat. Our food is too expensive for even her with a "decent paying job". Because America is so subsidized theyre used too and need those 20 cents per dozen eggs and dollar for a gallon of milk. If prices go higher than that the people seem to think they can no longer afford it and turn to the cheaper options. Usually junk.

As a farmer I cringe when I see posts of prices like that in America. I charge more than 20 cents for each egg!

Extra meaning if you ate your regular diet plus a Big Mac every day. Yes, MacDonalds and Pizza Hut, mainstay of the college student! And exta large pitchers of Coca Cola.

People who want Brexit are going to get it and all that goes with it. Gove has recently promised that food prices will drop 20% once out of the EU, so unless we are given the slack to produce cheap shite to compete, a very large part of our domestic market share is going to be given to that cheap imported shite.

That is the reality. Live with it.

Why after all the years of sub, are you suddenly concerned about the price ?

We will be able to reduce cost post-Brexit, and be in control of production (no EU quotas). That go's beyond the product, we can control food-standards in our own Country, not by some Bureaucrat who has a degree in media studies !!!

i suspect that, given the state of parliament, that any brexit deal will have to include access to the single market at the cost of allowing free movement....if this happens then no trade deal with the usa will be possible

i also suspect liam fox is involved in a 'smoke/mirrows' propaganda show for the public here and the negotiations with EU.....but is it really fooling anyone?

Good luck with that. Who'll be in charge? You?

This could be a game changer for the RT brand.

The general public might finally decide to buy British, rather than hormone filled beef, GM corn and chlorinated chicken from across the pond !

I think the point to note is the direction of travel that food prices are planned to travel. Gove has been installed with a purpose albeit the Tory press has been talking food prices down for over a year. Could UK broiler producers live with a 10%
cut in sale price let alone 20%. It takes some thinking through!

You can eat well in the US...it's their portion size that is ridiculous just eat normally . Everything is pretty much ok done in moderation .
Having said that there are a few things I don't want to try..

Interesting fact 1: You're body does not recognise artificial sweetener as a sugar, sends it to the liver, the liver doesn't know what to do with it so stores it as . . . FAT.

Interesting fact 2: We once calculated in class that if you eat just one extra Big Mac per day, you wil gain 250 lbs in one year.

Yep, but if you google search Dallas Cowboys Cheer Leaders there is a different kinda American gal, likewise Google Dallas Cowboys football team and there are hunky looking guys.

I've been saying that for a while, I know it's farm assurance, but it's the only brand recognition we have.

I appreciate this is a serious issue for UK agriculture. But my sense of humour does find it a tad amusing that a bit of chicken meat could be the sticking point in what will be critical post Brexit trade talks with the USA. It is almost a Sir Humphrey issue! And after the bus we now have chlorinated chicken. Brexit is certainly the soap that never stops giving.

Apologies in advance as this is a serious matter.

Animal rights spokesman on BBC just now , CIWF I think, demanding that the UK government demand all imports of meat products to meet UK welfare standards. He's concerned in particular about the low standards of animal welfare in US farming and poor hygiene in their slaughter systems.

Time to harness a new ally? UK government response was to say it's only interested in gold standards in food production /health.

Hmm. Good food vs low prices and contented voters. We'll see.
