Hi all,
I'm 19 and I've recently finished my qualification in Estate/Countryside Management and I am now looking for a job or work experience which could help my skills develop. I have a small amount of experience in farming (helped out a couple of times) but no real background or concrete experience in it (my location from farms hasn't helped) .
I have various practical skills such as fencing, walling, very basic tractor driving (driven tractor & trailer but not used implements) and some animal husbandry (handled sheep and moved them into other fields). I would say I have a decent amount of theory knowledge because of my course (contains agriculture) and my own interest in the industry that I always read up on. I am physically fit, can work in all weathers and long hours. I am very aware that having knowledge is all well and good but if you don't have practical experience on a farm then you don't really learn the real process about the job. I was due to do some lambing in the spring just gone, however I had to cancel due to having a driving test booked whilst I'd be away.
I suppose I'm looking for some real work experience/job on a farm that I could learn a lot from and also be an extra pair of hands to whoever would have me. I wouldn't be coming into this knowing nothing so I see that as having some head start. Ideally I would like to have a place to stay on the farm as I'm open to going wherever in the UK or Europe. I have a lot of drive and passion and with some guidance I could become a good asset. I do appreciate that it's hard for people from non-farming backgrounds to get a job in the industry due to the lack of experience available to them, this is something I have struggled to get. Money doesn't interest me as long as I had a roof over my head and some food.
- I have a full clean driving license
- PA1 pesticide and PA6 spraying (unfortunately no boom spraying)
- Chainsaw license
- Used mini excavators
- Would be open to all farms with livestock (dairy, beef, sheep, pig) whatever. Not interested in solely arable but mixed would be ok.

Or message on here if you could help me, regards.
