Found a kv ls180 2 furrow match plough for sale on 25 boards. Priced at 6995+vat. Is this a reasonable price. Could get a 4furrow for a lot less money and take 2 legs of and changer boards and other various parts
Few results to its name, how about two bronze medals at world matches and 7th overall in the world twice, plus at least two national titles, hope you don't sell it, we need you back ploughing. My LS95 2 furrow rev is for sale fully prepared and with a few results to its name - want a bit more than above but this ready to go without any messing about. Could even sell you some wheels and tyres for the tractor - could even sell you the complete outfit if you have a big enough cheque book View attachment 555882
any harm in asking what mod is done to the frogsAnything is doable, but cost effective? Four 25 boards are going to cost a fair bit, and they will fit no 8 frogs, but everyone I have seen is now using modified frogs so more expense, Mr Wright is not known for low prices either!
I ended up blowing a hole with the plasma cutter, and then making a bush to bring the hole back to size(and shape), and welding it in, using the board to position things!
i tried the wider shins and did the mods you mention on the frogs ,found it very difficult to get them going wellTo be honest, I didnt take that much notice, so they all may not be like this. The frogs I looked at had been extended on the rear allowing the board to be moved back, and the fitting of a much wider shin. Some of the holes had been repositioned, and from the fun I had in drilling a frog, its not a job for the cowman and a Black and Decker! It needs a good pillar drill and a top quality bit, plus loads of coolant, not something usually found in a farm workshop. I had most of that, but the bit was not up to the job, I ended up blowing a hole with the plasma cutter, and then making a bush to bring the hole back to size(and shape), and welding it in, using the board to position things!
I dont think you were alone. I had thought about changing to 25 s but, walking the work at many matches, I dont think its worth the effort, particularly as I dont have all that many years left, and I am not getting the best from the kit I have.i tried the wider shins and did the mods you mention on the frogs ,found it very difficult to get them going well
Speaking as a judge they are ok, but if you have a fault in your work it tends to show up even worse than ever. Are 25 boards any good for match ploughing. Just starting out at match ploughing so trying to get as much info as possible
